Improving services for Children, Young People and Families

This report documents the learning and actions for change to improve services for children and families experiencing difficulties, which have resulted from a systemic action research evaluation of the Children’s Fund Northamptonshire. This phase of the evaluation was undertaken between July 2004 and November 2005. It also builds on 2 years previous action inquiry evaluation of the Children’s Fund and research and development work in-house within the Children’s Fund team. (Includes 'Rivers of Experience')

Making children’s participation in neighbourhood settings relevant to the everyday lives of young people (111 KB in .pdf format)

Barry Percy-Smith and Karen Malone

The ideas presented in this paper are based primarily on our work with children in neighbourhoods in the United Kingdom (Percy-Smith 1999; 2001) and Australia (Malone & Hasluck 2001, Malone 1999, Chawla & Malone, in press), two of the four industrialised nations researched in conjunction with the international Growing Up In Cities programme (Chawla 2001).
