Disability Guidance

The following pages have been created to help students understand what the Faculty is aiming to achieve with regards to supporting the needs of students with disabilities / impairments.   It covers all areas of the course from theory to placement experiences.  The Faculty wants to ensure that it does not have any discriminatory practises and therefore would like to provide information and guidance for students to help you understand what you are entitled to and should resonably expect.

There is also information about how to inform the university if there are any issues and improvements need to be made.  There are over 1800 disabled students currently studying at the University and the Faculty is committed to ensuring that it is able to reasonable adjustments to address your access needs and you do not experience any disadvantage whilst studying on any of our programmes.

Please use the navigational menus down the side to go to the different pages that have been created to look at different aspects of disability.

The School of Health and Social Care has developed its own Disability Equality Strategy which was launched to staff in June 2007 and outlines the commitment made by the Faculty to ensuring parity of access for all students.  This will be offically launched to students in the near future.
