Nasal Cavity > Nose
We have an external and internal nose; the interior is called the nasal cavity and is divided in to a left and right side by the nasal septum.
The respiratory mucosa which lines the walls of the nasal cavity contains small, hair-like cilia. These move in a wave-like motion, moving mucus to the back of the throat where it is swallowed. Dust, bacteria, and other chemicals get trapped in the mucus and are denatured by stomach acid.
